One of the most reliable ways to restrict the access to your site is to block the IP addresses of those which must not be able to open it. There are numerous reasons to do this. For example, you may want a specific individual not to be able to see your website, or you may restrict the access for an entire state. You may also block IP addresses in case you notice that there are too many web browser requests from them, if many spam comments are left in your sites or if a script login page has been loaded many times. In any of these scenarios, the traffic is most likely fake and has been produced by an automatic bot, so you may safely block any shady IP address, so as to be on the safe side. That way, you will also stay away from the possibility of your hosting server getting overloaded by many fake requests.

IP Blocking in Shared Hosting

If you order a shared hosting from our company, you will be able to see in depth traffic statistics for all your Internet sites and if you notice that a large amount of the visits to any of them aren't legitimate, you may block the IP addresses which have generated the most traffic via our IP Blocking tool. The interface is quite simple - pick the needed domain or subdomain from a drop-down list, then enter the IP address that you want to block and save the change. All of the addresses which you have blacklisted shall appear inside the same exact section of the Control Panel, so that you can always remove any one of them and enable it to access your site again. You'll be able to block whole IP ranges using the tool as well - you just have to leave one or two octets from the address blank. For example, entering 1.2.3. will block all 254 IPs from 1.2.3.1 to 1.2.3.255.

IP Blocking in Semi-dedicated Servers

The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, offered with our semi-dedicated hosting plans, will allow you to solve the problem with unwanted traffic very efficiently. It features an IP blocking tool where you may add IP addresses with only a couple of mouse clicks. All domains and subdomains which you have within the account shall be listed in a drop-down menu, so you just have to choose the one you need and then type the IP address which has to be blocked. If you want to block a whole range, a C-class network for instance, you just have to enter the first three octets of the IP and leave the last one blank. That will block all 254 addresses, so you'll not need to enter them by hand. Since all the IPs that you add in this section will be listed, you may quickly unblock any of them by clicking the Delete button associated with the particular IP.
