An access log is a thorough list of all the files which were accessed by the guests of a certain website. Every file that was requested for some reason shall be listed, so if you have only one page with three embedded images, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log will contain a total of 6 entries - one for every of the six files that were accessed when the site visitor opened the webpage. A log usually contains the file name and path, the date, plus the visitor’s OS, Internet browser and IP address. In some cases you can also find the referrer Internet sites that sent the visitors to your website. The data which an access log file provides is in human-readable plain text format. It can also be processed by special software on a PC and used to write reports on the performance of a website, besides the web statistics which your hosting server may have produced.

Access Log Manager in Shared Hosting

When you opt for one of our shared hosting plans, you will receive detailed access logs for all your sites. Once you sign in to your Hepsia CP, you can go to the Access/Error Logs section where you will see a complete list of the domain names and subdomains that you've added or created inside the web hosting account. You will only have to click on the On button, that is located on the right-hand side of every hostname and our cloud platform shall start generating logs right away. To stop this function, you'll need to follow the same exact steps and click on the Off button. The domains and subdomains can be managed individually and at any time. You'll find a download link in the Logs section of the Control Panel for every log produced by our system, so that you can save the file to your personal computer and view it or use it via some log processing software.

Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, it will not take more than a few mouse clicks to trigger the generation of access logs by our system if you need them. The function may be activated via the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and this can be done independently for each domain name or subdomain which you have within your account. As soon as you log in and navigate to the Access/Error Logs section of the Control Panel, you will find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to every one of them. One click will enable the log generation and a second one shall deactivate it, so you can control this function with great convenience. A Download link inside the same section will enable you to save the compiled content as a text file, which you may then use on your personal computer. Even when the logs are deactivated, you'll still be able to download the data which has been previously generated.
