An AAAA record is an IP address in the newly released IPv6 format and it is made up of 8 sets of hexadecimal digits, as opposed to the IPv4 IPs, which include 4 sets of digits between 1 and 255. A good example of an IPv6 address is 3014:0d43:23a3:2354:1320:8f3b:2635:3254 and with this format the sheer number of IPs that may be created is many times bigger than the number of the IPv4 addresses. Each domain name has its website hosting server IP as a record and in essence, that record tells the domain address where the site for it is located. Depending on the system that the service provider uses, the record is going to be called A (IPv4) or AAAA (IPv6). Changing this record will allow you to host your Internet site with one provider and your e-mails with a different one, so if you choose to use such a redirection to forward a domain name to a server that uses an IPv6 address, you'll have to set up an AAAA record for it.

AAAA Records in Shared Hosting

If you would like to set up a new AAAA record a domain address or subdomain hosted within your shared hosting account, it won't take you more than several basic steps to do that. Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel is rather intuitive to use and is going to allow you to set up or edit any record without difficulty. After you log in and go to the DNS Records section, where you can find all present records for your domain names and subdomains, you will just have to click on the "New" button, choose AAAA from a small drop-down options menu inside the pop-up which will appear, input or paste the required IPv6 address and save the modification - it's as basic as that. The new record shall be fully working within only 1 hour and the hostname that you have created it for shall start opening whatever content you have with the other company. If needed, you are also going to be able to edit the TTL (Time To Live) value, which indicates the time in seconds which the new record will be active after you eventually edit it to something different or you simply remove it.

AAAA Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

Creating a new AAAA record is incredibly easy with our user-friendly Hepsia hosting Control Panel, so if you host a domain address inside a semi-dedicated server account from our company and you require such a record either for it or for a subdomain which you have created under it, you are going to be able to create it in just a few simple steps and with no hassle. Hepsia features a section devoted to the DNS records of your domain names in which you can find all existing records or set up new ones with several mouse clicks. All it takes to achieve that is to select the domain/subdomain that you would like to change, choose AAAA for the type from a drop-down menu and input the actual record i.e. the IPv6 address which the other company has given you. Within an hour after you save the modification, the new record will propagate world-wide and your domain name will start directing to the third-party server. If they require it, you could also change the TTL value, which shows the time this record shall be operating with its existing value before a new one kicks in if you make any adjustments in the future.
